As the largest dicotyledonous plant family, Asteraceae (also called as Compositae) has more than 25,000 species inabout 1,600 genera, which are widely distributed all over the world. The family includes many important genera ofindustrial and ornamental plants, such as Chrysanthemum genus and Helianthus genus, etc. Most chrysanthemumgenus species are distributed in East Asia. chrysanthemum morifolium, as a perennial herbaceous plant, originatedin China and has a history of cultivation of more than 3,000 years. in the 8th and 17th centuries A.D., manychrysanthemum varieties were introduced and bred in Japan and Europe, respectively. in addition to theirwell-known ornamental value, chrysanthemums are also widely used in food, medicine and beverages.
